A Luna Red were a post-punk industrial band from Vancouver BC featuring members of the bands Radio Berlin, and p:ano (also Hive recording clients). The band started as a recording project between one time member Erica Neumann and Jack Duckworth. Over its course the group has changed it's lineup numerous times, with the bulk of it's recordings acredited to main members Duckworth, Ebare, Jackson, Larissa Loyva, and Winslow-Hansen. The band's sound in it's latter days was focusing more on no wave/electropanic/dance than it's moody/more gothic roots. The media abroad has referenced them to bands such as Skinny Puppy, Cabaret Voltaire, DAF, The VSS, Einsteurzende Neubauten, Coil, The Faint, etc. The band had released one record on the label Global Symphonic , it's
2nd LP/CD SLMZK! on Action Driver, a split, self-recorded split 12"
with Ghost Orchids on Global Symphonic and it's last release, a stellar
7" single on GSL. After core members Jackson and Winslow-Hansen left in early 2003, the band continued for a short while with Duckworth, Ebare, and new drummer Neal Simpson before deciding it best be dissolved in late 2003. Jack Duckworth has moved into continuing similar work in Primes, Jackson and Winslow-Hansen have recorded an album and few singles as sunth-pop outfit Droom, and Ebare now is recording with his latest group, A Spectre Is Haunting Europe. • Check out Jack's old OLD band, The Measure here and download their unreleased recordings here!
