From Vancouver, Canada, this 5 piece experimental rock group recieved critical reviews since their debut CD, Portage, was released on respected Vancouver label Zulu Records. Beans have been played on John Peel's show and have performed live for CBC's Brave New Waves. They recorded with the legendary Constellation Records in Montreal, and scored a Toronto Film Festival award-winning feature film, "Red Deer." Beans have supported international touring acts including The Flaming Lips, Laika, Buffalo Daughter, The Inbreds and Spectrum. In addition to standard rock instrumentation, Beans incorporate a variety of new sounds, including homemade string and percussion instruments, electronics, turntables, and tape machines. Beans explore interdisciplinary ideas by collaborating with, multimedia artists, including filmmakers, dancers, actors, web artists, and guest musicians. In the summer of 2001, Beans performed for 48 hours straight.
