EX DEAD TEENAGER (1996-1998)

For those of us lucky to see Ex Dead Teenager in their short but awesome run from 1996 to fall of 1998, they were the first band to flagship to synth/new wave rock in this neck of the woods. The line-up included Josh Wells (now in Jerk With A Bomb, Black Mountain, Pink Mountaintops and ex-Radio Berlin) on guitar/vocals/keyboards, Steve McBean (Jerk With A Bomb, Black Mountain, Pink Mountaintops, and previously Wrong Records punkers Gus) on guitar/vocals, Christoph Hofmeister (Mercury The Winged Messenger, Jerk With A Bomb, and most recent incarnation of Daddy's Hands) on bass, and Cory Gagnes (S.T.R.E.E.T.S.) on drums.
 
Ex Dead Teenager recorded two "albums", the first released as a LONG out of print demo tape and their second and best recording unreleased except for a handful of tapes they took on their 1998 west coast tour. The latter was one of The Hive's first recordings! Their sound referenced everything from Gravity Records ilk, Jesus Lizard and The Birthday Party to Devo and the new wave set.

Their second recording is available in full on this page as it is unreleased (apparently Mike Simonetti of Troubleman Records contacted them about doing a record after they had broken up!). It is an important recording as it was the start of the local synth punk movement continued by bands such as Hot Hot Heat, etc.
