To the uninitiated Saturnhead may be known as the noisy, fuzzy
precursor to Ashley Park. They did
however live in a completely different and quite unique sonic universe.
Whereas adjective like pastoral and sublime could be used for Ashley
Park the music that defines Saturnhead is more about capturing
the moment, not meticulously laboring over details and layering sounds.
The only constant between the two opposing views on art is multi-instrumentalist
Terry Miles.
All Saturnhead recordings got their start on Terry Miles four
track cassette recorder. After he did all he could (which was a substantial
bit) then the tapes were brought to The Hive and transferred
to our gear. We overdubbed and mixed everything you hear on Arizona's
Thin Mistake and Saturnhead, California. Once you listen
to Saturnhead's sound files you'll be hard pressed to find a
band that better defines what mid-nineties indie-pop was all about.
