After placing second in Shindig!, CiTR's battle of the bands, Vancouver's They Shoot Horses, Don't They? took their prize of recording time at Hive Studios and recorded their first ep. In under a year the band's accomplishments include: Playing with touring bands The Unicorns, Xiu Xiu, and I am the Word Trade Center, writing and performing music for a circus, a west coast tour and having 36 audience members play harmonicas. They have a distinctive noisy oompa sound thanks to a horn section. The band has been compared to the likes of The Danielson Family, Captain Beefheart and Thinking Fellers Local 242. Lyrical themes of desperation, betrayal and hardship are brought to interesting light in this overly joyful jittery music.
